Mission Possible: Taking flight on the C-17 Globemaster III
// July 13th, 2010 // Events, Hawai'i, Impact, Life
In March 2009 I had the honor of participating in the U.S. Navy Distinguished Visitors Program, in an embarkation to the sailing USS Ronald Reagan. I labeled that day a once-in-a-lifetime experience because I promised myself I’d never do it again. Going from 0 to 128 mph in 3 seconds during take off and 105 to 0 mph during landing is enough thrill for me to appreciate it, but decline any additional offers. And so I have been, until yesterday.
Yesterday, I received and gratefully accepted an invitation by the Pacific Air Forces to fly in the C-17 Globemaster III as the crew conducts a heavy airdrop mission to resupply Marine ground forces as part of the Rim of the Pacific multinational maritime exercise. Holy Kaw! How cool is this?
I’ll be capturing media of photos, video, and interviews; however I will not be able to transmit any of it until I’m back on the ground sitting at my desk. Check out the video of the C-17 below, I already apologized to organizers in advance, but I’m taking the necessary precautions to prevent air sickness. Somehow, I don’t think this experience will be like a casual flight to Maui.

Woo hoo!
